Review: Love Sold Separately

Love Sold Separately finds the main character, Dana, at what could be the beginning of a downward spiral. A struggling actor, she has just lost her job and is probably going to lose a lot more. By a stroke of luck, she accidentally lands herself a dream job hosting a shopping channel on a major network. She is an instant natural.

Then, Dana’s boss is suddenly found murdered and Dana is caught up in the net of the investigation when she is the only alibi for the main suspect. Determined to prove innocence and catch the real culprit, Dana sets to sleuthing of her own.

I was interested to read this book because it sounded like a murder mystery, although the cover did indicate to me that it might also have some romance. While it definitely had murder and mystery, it was also some parts chick flicky drama, which I’m not hugely into. These aspects were not overwhelming though, as mystery did thankfully make up the underlying theme of the story. All this being said, my initial assumptions that the main character was an annoying ditz, were derailed when she proved herself to be quite a smart amateur detective and I quite enjoyed the ride.

The writing wasn’t on par with what I typically read, but it was still clever and entertaining. And it was fun enough that I read it fairly straight through over a few days.

Thank you to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my advanced reader copy.
